Miltos Manetas

Manetas was born in Athens in 1964. When he was 20 he moved to Milan, where he studied at the Brera Academy. In 1996 he moved to New York and began working with videogames, making use of characters such as Lara Croft and SuperMario.
Manetas has held numerous exhibitions worldwide. One of the most important of these was held in the Champs Élysées at the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, the Gagosian Gallery in New York, and the Whitney Biennial. In 2009, Miltos Manetas together with the curator Jan Aman created the first Internet Pavilion at the Venice Biennial. As part of his work he invited ThePirateBay and activists thePiratbyrån to participate in the creation of the first "Embassy of Piracy".
