Luther Blissett is a multi-use name, a collective pseudonym or multi-user alias, an open reputation informally adopted and shared by hundreds of artists and social activists throughout Europe since the summer of 1994. The project was inspired by many ideals: principally autonomous Marxism and anti-capitalism, as well as post-situationist, libertarian or simply non-conformist philosophies. The Luther Blissett Project is associated with computer sabotage and the so-called communication guerrilla, as well as critical analysis of the mass media. For reasons unknown, the name was borrowed from an English football player of Afro-Caribbean descent from the 1980s.
